Austin ISD's liberal transfer policy is the elephant in the living room, costing the district and Austin taxpayers millions in fuel costs, destroying communities and dramatically contributing to traffic congestion. Secondary and tertiary effects include obesity, diabetes, stress, and pollution. Solution: Vote to do away with the transfer policy, offer magnet programs on all campuses, spend time volunteering in schools rather than sitting in traffic trying to get to one, invest in your neighborhood schools, walk or bike to schools and demand the infrastructure to do it safely. This isn't just about AISD, this is about improving mobility all over our city for everyone.
