Whether you’re headed into Austin for business or pleasure, parking is a headache you’ll have to face. With more companies moving into central Austin and few large scale parking developments on the horizon, this problem isn’t going away. Austin needs a vision for development that includes parking solutions.
Decrease the demand for parking downtown, by creating a park-and-ride, where drivers can park in a lot not too far from downtown, and then ride a bus, shuttle, or rail the rest of the way into downtown.
Waive parking fees for drivers who car pool.
An coded HOV sticker displayed in the windshield would allow parking enforcement officers to recognize and collect usage information on how effective the program would be.
Here's a fun one.. Parking garages attached to both I-35 and MoPac. Then people movers that run east/west across downtown.
No congestion downtown (expect residence/hotel guest). Which would free up a lane for the people movers.

It would be good to implement legitimized parking provisions for (electric) scooters (and motorcycles) that would help ease traffic congestion, and help improve livability downtown and all over Austin. Parking provisions similar to that seen for Car2Go would help further…
