Whether you’re headed into Austin for business or pleasure, parking is a headache you’ll have to face. With more companies moving into central Austin and few large scale parking developments on the horizon, this problem isn’t going away. Austin needs a vision for development that includes parking solutions.
Decrease the demand for parking downtown, by creating a park-and-ride, where drivers can park in a lot not too far from downtown, and then ride a bus, shuttle, or rail the rest of the way into downtown.
Waive parking fees for drivers who car pool.
An coded HOV sticker displayed in the windshield would allow parking enforcement officers to recognize and collect usage information on how effective the program would be.

Allow car2go or car sharing to park in more spaces that currently get tickets, eg 15 min areas, close to junctions, consider giving up more meter spots to dedicated car sharing spots.
